Jennifer Onwumere is the Founder & Executive Director of Jen-gerbread Marketing, a full service boutique marketing, photography & public relations company based in Dallas, Texas. The company specializes in creating catchy & effective lifestyle marketing campaigns & visibility for its clients.Onwumere began her career in the entertainment industry at the age of 17, as a field marketer for various local companies that held promotional accounts with independent & major labels. It was these experiences that exposed the young entrepreneur to various aspect of marketing & promotions. As a college intern for Universal Music & Video Distribution , Onwumere created a lifestyle marketing database for the Southwest Region of the United States. The database was used to devise targeted & successful visibility projects for artists leading up to the release of their album. In 2003, Onwumere created, promoted, and hosted the first “Battle of the Sexes” live broadcast at the University of Texas at Arlington which drew a crowd of over 200 people in a venue with a maximum capacity of 150. In conjunction to this, Onwumere served as the creator of the “Independent Jewels” section of popular Dallas-based magazine, Block 2 Block, which provides advice and information for independent artists and musicians. In 2005, the young entrepreneur was elected to serve as the official publicist for the Texas Summer Music Conference, an event that boasted an annual attendance of 3,500+ people and had become one of the largest urban music conferences in the United States. As publicist for the Texas Summer Music Conference, Onwumere secured press attendance and coverage of the event from various media outlets around the nation including WFAA-TV (ABC Affiliate), Grip Magazine, and Dallas Morning News among others. Soon after, Onwumere secured a position at Reach Media Inc., the parent company of the Tom Joyner Morning Show in which she worked in conjunction with the Fantastic Voyage Cruise, an event that raises $1,000,000 annually for historically black colleges & universities. In recent years, Jen-gerbread Marketing has worked in collaboration with Universal Music & Sony Music to devise listening parties & online marketing initiatives to reinforce upcoming album releases & projects. Jen-gerbread Marketing has secured press for its clients & affiliates in many major & independent publications including Ozone Magazine, VIBE, The Source Magazine, and Quick Magazine among others.
